Farewell Greg – a true Batesford Quarry legend

After 12 years and 8 months of dedicated service, it’s time for us at Batesford Quarry to say goodbye to our much-loved Sales Manager, Greg. Greg’s contribution to our business and community has been nothing short of remarkable, and his departure marks the end of an era.

Greg’s journey in the construction and quarry industry began long before he joined us. A qualified carpenter, Greg completed his Carpentry & Joinery Certificate at Hobart Tech College in the late 1970s. His early career included adventurous stints working as a carpenter at Antarctic base camps – twice – where he developed a love for the environment and a passion for photography.

Born and raised in Glenorchy, Tasmania, Greg met his wife Pauline at 19. Married in 1981, they raised three wonderful children – Aaron, Luke, and Danni. Greg’s love for his family was always evident, and after his Antarctic adventures, he settled back in Tasmania before taking a leap of faith in 1997 to move the family to Geelong. Here, he spent 22 years with Hanson Concrete as a Production Manager across Tasmania, Melbourne, and Geelong, before embarking on his final professional chapter at Batesford Quarry.

Since joining us in 2012, Greg has been more than just a Sales Manager – he’s been the face of our business. His deep knowledge, friendly nature, and commitment to customer service have made him a trusted figure across Geelong and beyond. From helping clients find the right limestone or sand product to sharing a laugh with the team, Greg has made an indelible mark on everyone he’s worked with.

As Matt, our Business Development Manager, so aptly put it:
“Greg will be missed by our customers and staff and is well known for being a people’s person. We wish Greg and his family all the best for the years to come and Pauline is lining up plenty of jobs around the house and trips away to keep themselves entertained. All the very best Greg, you’re one of the good ones…”

Greg, thank you for your years of hard work, dedication, and friendship. We wish you and your family nothing but happiness, adventure, and well-deserved relaxation as you move into this next chapter. Enjoy the time with your loved ones – and we have no doubt Pauline will keep you busy!

From all of us at Batesford Quarry, we’ll miss you.
